What’s new at Elemental Herbology?
December 29, 2014
By: Melissa Meisel
After moving to London from her native Australia in the 1990s, Kristy Goodger-Cimesa landed at a prestigious Mayfair spa. It was here that she was inspired to integrate holistic techniques of acupuncture, herbalism, nutrition, aromatherapy, deep tissue massage and shiatsu training into the spa facial experience. Goodger-Cimesa further developed the concept at her second spa project in Primrose Hill, where she created an entire range of professional spa and retail products. She was invited by Nicky Kinnaird to join Space NK in 2004, where she worked on the launch of the Spa NK concept, developing spa treatments and protocols for some of the industry’s top skin care and spa brands. In 2006, after securing private funding for her own skin care brand, Goodger-Cimesa began the exhaustive research, development, trial and testing that marked the beginning of Elemental Herbology. In 2008, the high-performance natural skin care brand was launched in the UK and US, exclusively with Space NK. Today, Elemental Herbology is available in 24 countries worldwide, and the brand recently launched hand and lip care products as well as a Holiday 2014 gift set. Goodger-Cimesa Cimesa took time to chat with Happi.com on the latest news at her company and in the beauty industry itself. Happi: What are the top trends for natural beauty products for 2015 and why? KC: Facial oils are still big news this year; we launched our Harmonising Cleanse Facial Cleansing Oil this spring and it has had a tremendous response in stores and online. Look out for products that emulate a home spa experience too, making facials and targeted treatments accessible for everyone and every lifestyle. Happi: What are consumers looking for, as seen with recent experience, in their natural beauty purchases? KC: Today’s consumers are more informed than ever before about the advances in skincare science and are constantly looking for products that deliver results rather than just making empty claims or using ingredients for ingredients sake. Elemental Herbology products are packed with active ingredients (for example peptides and AHAs) and patented formulas at significant therapeutic levels to ensure that every product delivers visible results to the skin. Happi: Are there certain ingredients that are popular right now in the “green” marketplace and if so, why? KC: At Elemental Herbology, we are keen to support the sustainable eco-sourcing of some of the world’s most wonderful natural ingredients direct from suppliers for whom the income generated by farming in a fair and sustainable way is a vital necessity, and there are many fantastic and ethical global projects that are beginning to get the attention that they deserve. Sacha Inchi oil from Peru and Buriti oil from the Amazon basin are two incredible ingredients that we predict will be big news in “green” beauty. Happi: What are the future trends to look out for in natural beauty into 2015 and why? KC: As the recognition of skincare as a holistic practice continues, keep an eye out for the growth of nutritional supplements in the marketplace. The properties of many natural bio-oils and mineral complexes can be equally beneficial to the skin when taken internally. More info: www.elementalherbology.com
